wwp@yahoogroups.com: New Pano bracket (at last) Mark D. Fink 2005-Jul-20 01:32:00
Hi everyone,

"Sales pitch" follows:

As some of you may be aware, I have been refining my multi-row pano bracket
so that it will work with both the Canon 10D and Canon 300D using either the
Sigma 8mm (four shots around) or Sigma 14mm (three rows of eight shots).
This new bracket is based on the one I currently use, which can be found at
www.northernlight.net/rig. I'm trying to gauge the level of interest,
because that determines how many of these I am going to have built at a
time. If I can get five pre-orders, then I can make these available for $300
each. The only item not included is the leveling base shown on the web page.
You can buy those directly from a number of sources, and take it to any
machine shop to have holes drilled every 45 degrees.

For those of you not familiar with my bracket, I designed this using a
pin-registered approach primarily because it yields repeatable results. For
example, when I did my recent WWP water pano -
http://geoimages.berkeley.edu/wwp605/html/MarkFink.html - I used the my 10D
and the Sigma 14mm. I didn't have to do any plotting of points, not even
using Autopano, and the stitch came out beautifully. Obviously, this isn't
the prettiest piece of engineering, but it is highly functional, repeatable,
light, and packs away into a small space because of its two piece design.

I'm not asking people to pay up front, as that's something I wouldn't do
myself, considering the bracket hasn't been built yet, But since this is the
second version of an already successful design, and I have spent months
triple checking everything to make sure I got all the measurements right, I
feel confident that this will be an even better, more precise version.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me offline if you feel that is
more appropriate, (I don't want to fill everyone's inbox with emails if they
aren't interested in this). My apologies for the commercial nature of this
email, but I'm really excited by this new version and wanted to get the word
out to as many as possible.

Thanks,

Mark
