The plan was to put up a really spectacular hand held pano of the fantastic
torch lit Bonfire
Night parades that we have here in Sussex in November - however!

I had counted on having my new EOS 5D by then but buying it turned out to be
a little
more difficult than expected. What should have been a straight forward
transaction
turned into a nightmare and finally descended into farce when Canon UK sent
my dealer a
20D in a 5D box! You should have seen his face - and mine - when he opened
it.

I finally got the camera last Friday, along with a lovely 360 Precision head
(no complaints
there - Matt's service was great).

Instead I have pulled out an earlier pano made with my old CP5K and Kiwi
combo.

I expect that just about everyone has moved on to DSLR's by now so this is
really old
technology and the only point of interest is that with multi row and multi
image capture
you can get an extended dynamic range by changing the exposure between
shots. With
the ASA set to 800 I used aperture priority and allowed the shutter speed to
set itself -
anything between 1\2 and 8 seconds. Quality would have been better still if
I had used
RAW capture but the terribly slow write to card time of the CP5K precluded
that. As it was
it took more than ten minutes to shoot using fine JPEG.

At least I can now get down to seriously playing with the 5D and 360 over
the holidays -
maybe there is a Santa afterall.

Happy Holidays.

Best

Bruce
