wwp@yahoogroups.com: list of alpine botanical gardens in Europe Carl von Einem 2006-Jun-21 07:23:00
Hi!

Here is a (german) list of several botanical gardens that feature
special plants from higher (alpine) regions.
http://www.biologie.uni-ulm.de/fgag/alpengaerten.htm

This might be of interest for photographers in Austria, France, Germany,
Italy, Norway, Russia, Slowenia and Switzerland.

I try to visit (and shoot for my submission) a botanical garden that is
located at 1850 m above sea level:

Problem is that they open on June 29, so I asked for permission to get
access in the next few days. Still waiting for a decision but first
feedback sounded promising.

The special thing about this botanical garden is that it's over 100
years old and shows plants from higher mountain regions all over the
world, e.g. Himalaya and Rocky Mountains.

And only a couple of meters away you can visit a Alpine hut that is
actually one of the official bavarian castles:

This is the spot where I shot my very first QTVR Panorama in 1996.

Carl
