Just to chime in: If it's modified to do the "scanning" approach
(narrow slit through which the continuously moving film is
exposed), then it would work offcentered, but there could be some
distortion in objects near the camera. However, with two
off-centered cameras (one left, one right), you could do 3D
panoramas (red/blue type)
