wwp@yahoogroups.com:
first day of the conference

I hope everyone is doing well with their efforts on the theme
"community". Some of us have been fortunate enough to be in the midst
of our own special VR community, at the International VR Photography
Conference here in Berkeley.
The conference kicked off last night with dinner for some of the
IVRPA board and others at my house. Today was a long and entertaining
day, with VR-101 most of the day, then Beer on the Balcony. It was an
unusually hot day (for Berkeley), but the fog came rushing in just
before sunset and cooled it down.
It was great to see old friends, and to meet in person so many that I
have known only through e-mail. Most of those in attendance were in
fact WWP participants. The number of cameras, tripods, VR mounts and
other fancy gadgets was really amazing. There was hardly a moment
when someone wasn't taking a panorama.
My computer lab was open until 9 and a number of panos have been
finished and are already on-line. Tomorrow there will be more - lots
of views of the VR community, gathered together here.
The panos are being posted here:

The first one, taken by Ian during dinner at my house, stars our new
6-week old kitten, Pilgrim. There is only one cat, we just passed him
around - no cats were harmed during the making of this panorama. The
people are (from opening shot, going left) Tessa Hoeben, Aldo Hoeben,
Kat Bennett, Landis Bennett, Maura Cheatham, Mike Quan, Bob Fisher,
myself, my wife Nora Weldon, Jan van der Woning, and Ian Wood.
Pilgrim appears eight times.
The one of all of us in a circle under the oak trees, taken after
lunch today by Gary O'Brien is just the first of a series - half a
dozen people in turn shot the group like this, with variations in
equipment and style.
Only about half the participants arrived today. Tomorrow we have
vendor demonstrations during the day and the WWP Reception in the
evening. Since the computer lab will be open all day I expect to see
a lot more panos appear on the site. Enjoy!
