wwp@yahoogroups.com: getting started on "forests" Don Bain 2011-Mar-29 16:09:00
As announced earlier, this open editing period will offer a chance for everyone to participate in the first year-long WWP event - forests. I can see on the prep server that some of you have already done so.

Panoramas for this event must be taken during the calendar year 2011, but not necessarily during the normal event windows. I have taken a lot of forests panoramas over the years, but the only ones so far this year were on my recent trip to Hawaii, so I will be finishing and posting one of those.

My wife and I made a quick trip to Sequoia National Park this weekend, where they had received twelve feet (4 meters) of snow in the previous three days. It was a wonderful scene, the giant trees and the soft new snow. We were equipped with snowshoes, but faced serious problems climbing the ten foot wall of snow along the road. We ended up taking two moderate snow-shoe slogs and I hope I managed to get a few good panos of this unique forest. Here I am in front of the Visitor Center:

We are allowing up to four panoramas per person in this event, and they need not be spread out through the four open editing periods. So if you, like me, already have more than one you want to submit, you can do it now. But please remember that we do not want you to keep changing your mind and substituting new panos through the rest of the year.
