Ruins? the
next September eqinox theme ? pick everything you do consider to be »ruins«:
ancient ruins, remains of something ? e.g. WW1 locations (it is 100 years since
the WW1 started), something what was abandoned and is most likely becoming a
ruin. There are some teams researching, discovering and documenting the abandoned
places, ruins, like students from Croatia ? Croatia Infiltration (https://www.facebook.com/croinfiltration ) - I suggested them to start using 360° surround photography to document
places, like did George Palov with Buzludzha monument in Bulgaria. (George
can you please post the link to the virtual tour?) .
There is
another team ? Underground explorers : https://www.facebook.com/UndergroundExplorers , exploring abandoned mines ? yes abandoned places are most likely in ruins,
but some ruins can be crowded with tourists like Angkor Wat, Machu Picchu. Some
places are very alive but can look like town in ruins ? favelas, slums, shantytowns,
musseques, morros, ... or bankrupted towns like Detroit suburbia?
It is not
necessary to literary use ruins as an urban geography, but can be also social
geography ? refugee camps like human ruins, ? be creative ? as always.
