I noticed that the thumbnail does not show up until the post appears in the timeline, so the preview on the sharing message input isn't all that accurate. Maybe the URL scraper that Facebook uses needs some time to process, I don't know. The most recent one I shared on the WorldWidePanorama facebook group worked with Facebook and Google+ (using the "og:image" meta tag to point to the thumbnail image). The one I did before, which relied on facebook/g+ being "smart" (ooops), didn't fare quite so well.
So, even though the preview isn't quite there yet, the final result seems to be OK.
I tried it several times on my own timeline, setting the posts to "private only" though so I could trash the tests later, and the thumbnail showed up as expected. Please give it another try, and if it still doesn't appear, drop me a mail and I'll try to get it to behave.

The thumbnail does not work with Facebook, I tried it and could not see it on chrome or on the iPad.
