wwp@yahoogroups.com:
my marketplace plans

Yes, the final week countdown to Marketplace is about to begin - one
week from tomorrow!
Let us know your plans and ideas, so we can each come up with a
brilliant concept which we can then flawlessly execute next week.
I have two plans and a fall-back.
The first is in San Francisco, where the historic Ferry Building, a
major landmark that has long outlived its original purpose, has been
converted to the "Ferry Building Marketplace". It has dozens of
specialized vendors of food products, most of them local. San Francisco
is famous for how seriously it regards food and the marketplace
features sourdough French bread, Napa Valley wines, California olive
oils, Marin county cheeses, etc. It's a dramatic building and a lively
scene. I will need permission, but I have a name and number to call.
My second choice is to shoot the incredible produce section at
Andronico's market in Berkeley's "gourmet ghetto", with 500 items.
Once again I will need permission, but hopefully they will see the
public relations value.
If neither of these works out... I might shoot the Pacific Coast Stock
Exchange in San Francisco's financial district. I doubt if the security
people would let me shoot inside, but even from outside it's an
interesting embodiment of "marketplace" - a low rise building
surrounded by huge office towers. It opens and closes in sync with the
New York Stock Exchange, four time zones away, so west coast stock
traders get up early!
