Hi Andy (and list),
"approval" does not mean you can't upload. "Not approved"
panoramas do not show up on the unauthenticated HTML view/export,
that's all.
There are two ways to enter your information, but only one way to
upload:
- there's one "all-in-one" form that provides a simple way to
type in "everything textlike" and to submit it in one go. It's
just a big mess of input boxes and the like, and not very WYSIWYG.
You also can not upload on that page, it's meant for text input
only. However, this is obviously great if you're filling in the
initial information, since you don't waste time clicking each
field separately and sending form data to and from (as with the
next way):
- The other form is a WYSIWYGy "field by field" layout, i.e.
you'd have to click an "[edit]" box, enter the text, click "OK"
(or "submit"), then go on to the next box etc. This is also the
form where you're able to upload the panorama files, by clicking
the green "Edit small/fullscreen panorama" / "Edit soundtrack"
boxes in the grey box labeled "Panorama display" to turn them
into upload forms.
This page offers a way to "fine-tune" the data, i.e. make minor
changes if you find some error in your text. It does not show the
panorama files (it shows their file size as text). This has
changed from earlier versions. Earlier, it would re-load the
panorama each time the user would send his/her input to the WWP
server, which was a waste of time and bandwidth if the user had
started with uploading the panorama...
However, if you can't upload due to some technical issue
(firewall, network policy, browser issue or whatever), feel free
to mail the panorama or put it somewhere on the web so we can
pick it up and copy it to the server.
Hope this helps?
Some more notes:
- I took the liberty to change a panorama location to 37 degrees
SOUTH instead of North, i suppose Australian markets shouldn't
float off the japanese coast, should they? ;)
I guess what i want to say is: Please take the time to check your
"global marker position" (the little map in the grey
Geographic/Time/Equipment box), to make sure it's at least
approximately there where you remember shooting the panorama :)
- Also, in the grey box labeled "Administrative information" (at
the very bottom of the page) there's the "Geographic Region"
field that starts out empty (i.e. it says only "[Edit]". Do not
fear this button, or the "Administrative" in the title. You're
all free to pick your Region of choice there to get rid of the
ugly grey circle where one of Kat's Region icons is supposed to be :)
- We're seeing some participants that did only upload a
fullscreen panorama. Please do also submit a scaled-down version
to complete your entry, since there are lot of things automated,
but a movie downsizer is not part of that feature list, sorry...
- It's fascinating how many uploads there are already,
considering we're just three days into the upload period. Please
keep your panoramas coming in... :)
