Hi Rodrigo, Aldo, et all
I respectfully submit that your timing is off by ten years. The before pano
should have been taken ten or twenty years ago. Climate change is happening
right now and it much more than the polar bear wondering "Yo where's my ice
floe"? The bell weather is sounding in the artic to be sure but this affects
everyone around the planet. For a site hosted my a social geography
university department I can think of no better topic. Climate change affects
our collective health, agriculture, housing issues, third world development,
and transportation. It builds on our past themes of energy through the use
of clean and sustainable energy be it solar, wind, or geothermal. It builds
on the theme of marketplace through the new carbon economy. Industries and
governments are developing new green house gas (GHG) lowering solutions
which will slow the rate of climate change. In addition to marketing these
solutions they will also get carbon credits which they will trade on an open
market that promises to be in the billions of dollars. We can panorama these
things and raise awareness both in our own community and in our viewers. The
are carbon capture and storage projects, biosphere studies, renewable and
recycling projects, weather monitoring projects both space and earth bound
for us to photograph. Well maybe not in space but someone could photograph
the weather satellite construction facility. And then there are always the
Artic, and around the world the low lying land vulnerabilities that we
immediately think about. Just food for thought. Dr. David Suzuki believes
that climate change will be the single biggest issue to come out from our
era and I now fear he maybe right.
Francis
