Re: Suggestions for Themes

I don't mean to get political, off topic, or send anyone to the cold frozen
artic for a suggested theme. The theme of climate change is happening in
your own backyard. You may need to research it out a bit but that's not
necessarily a bad thing. Climate change awareness is needed at all levels. I
must admit that I knew very little about it myself three weeks ago. I
thought of my self as a small "e" environmentalist and still do. I don't
think that I want to get on a soapbox on this subject although some may want
to. I'm thinking about this theme as an abstract idea of social geography
that we might apply our collective creativity to. Maybe we need to schedule
this as a yearlong project as Landis has suggested or maybe it needs to be
tackeled sooner. We have had past themes that were very literal such as
bridges and some that were very conceptual such as santuary. But even with
the literal bridge theme some people showed us very creative interpertations
of the concept of bridge. All of the themes have required us to do some
research and apply our creativity to the subject at hand. A lot of times, as
in my case, learning the craft of the pano has been as much of a struggle as
the creative. But we learn something and we create which is what is
important. I would only like to suggest that you consider the theme of
climate change as a subject. It is not happening on the other side of the
world but rather in your own location. Seek and you shall find that maybe
your town contributes to climate change, or is doing something to monitor
it, or something to alleviate it. We are creative as a group and I think
although not necessarily an easy subject to get into it could be very
rewarding. I have the the utmost confidance, having been a member of this
agust group for slightly over a year, that folks would be able to discuss
any theme subject and inspire all those that read herein.
