Imaginary borders

It's always interesting trying to visualize imaginary borders.
For many years I've had a special place in my head for the dateline border. A
lot of years ago I was working with a group of artists and architects for a
little while, on a competition about how to visualize the dateline. It was a
purely conceptual project, which was never finished from our side BTW.
But the point/theme was that in the middle of the Bering Strait between Russia
and Alaska there are two relatively small islands, Big Diomede and Little
Diomede island. They are separated by the dateline, thus it's possible to stand
on one island and look at the other one while what you're looking at is in a
different date - looking back on yesterday, or forward to tomorrow. Very
interesting concept, but very difficult (and expensive) to visualize with a
panorama...
But borders is an interesting theme anyway :)
