wwp@yahoogroups.com: Thanks and Sigma 8mm ctr_freiburg 2006-May-23 09:49:00
Hello,

being new to this list, firstly I would like to thank the team of the WWP for their incredible
work in creating this extensive "platform". As a biologist, I would rather prefer the term
"biotope" for this project, as it underlines the dynamics, the interactions and the
complexity.

Browsing the entries for the last events has been so inspiring - to see, how the panoramic
community spans the globe - to see, how many creative ways there are, looking at the
themes - to see entries of such artistic and technical brilliance.

Secondly I would like to raise an somewhat technical issue: For the last years I have shot
my panoramas with a Canon EOS 300D and a Sigma 12-14mm. For some month I am
using the program DxO Optics Pro to correct the images (CA, vignetting, etc...). The
program is doing a very good job. This is partly due to the fact, that Dxo - http://
www.dxo.com - is programming modules directy for camera / objective pairings.

After the last WWP event and after having studied both the statistics from Tim Hatch and
the websites of Hans Nyber, I have bought a Sigma 8 mm circular fisheye.

Sadly this objective is not in the database of DxO. I have asked DxO, whether they plan to
support this objective. They told me, that I can suggest this. And - if there are enough
suggestions to support the Sigma 8 mm - they will consider supporting it.

The suggestions can be made at: http://www.dxo.com/en/photo/support/
form_availability.php

So if you are using the Sigma 8mm, I would like to encourage you, to make such a
suggestion.

Thank you

CTR
