wwp@yahoogroups.com:
finally, a theme essay

[apologies if you get this more than once - I am having problems with the local network
connection]
Yes, I am feeling very guilty for not posting an essay about the theme "gardens". I should
have done it weeks ago. My excuse, predictably, is that I have been busy traveling, taking
panoramas, and working on my web site.
Right now I am in the high desert of Oregon, waiting out a rainy spell in a motel, catching
up on e-mail. Sorry to miss out on some of the pre-event discussion - thank-you to the
veterans who have filled in for me.
So I got up early this morning, went to a coffee shop and typed up some of my thoughts
on "gardens". It is not too well organized, and there is much more that I would like to say,
but I think it will serve.
I am hoping that this event will be about PLACES. That's the professional geographer in me
speaking. I would like to see the world's cultures and environments, in all their marvelous
diversity, reflected in their gardens.
Essay to follow.
