H264 was not supported for QTVR until 7.1 which I believe is less than 
2 months ago.
So 5% is probably to much.

This type of sky is the hardest of all to compress without banding.
I can see you have used 36% compression. That is to much. Banding in 
areas like this starts at 50%.
Just for those on PC I am talking about the Scale we use on Mac and in 
Photoshop.

I suggest you reduce the Cubefaces to 1500x1500 and use 50%
Compressed Size will be almost the same and you will not see much 
difference in sharpness.
1500x1500 is enough for fullscreen even on my 23" Cinema at 1920x1200.

Just remember not to use much sharpening but leave the image a little 
soft.
Especially if you have grass or trees with small branches covering 
large areas.
Sharpening too much on them makes the image very difficult to compress.
