wwp@yahoogroups.com: Multi-Language at the WWP ... Roberto Gomez Torres 2006-Oct-21 20:58:00
Amigos,

I also (as many have written on this list) would love to see a
multi-language web site.
But the topic has gone very far for my taste.

It would be lovely if we could start easy and slow with a translation of the
user interface (web banners, buttons and informative text).
Maybe later proceed with the captions. Or just put a label saying in which
language the caption is.

Here in Mexico we have a very low percentage of people able to speak and
read a second language.
You should see my problems, for example, when I have to explain to my
visitors to click on the "Full Screen" button at my and your submissions.

Making the site behave that way should be very easy using active web pages
technology.
I am on the Windows side and know some ASP language. There should be
something very easy and equivalent on the Mac side.

The server can detect from which Internet direction de visitor is coming and
from that info extract the country and region, which could use to present a
default language for the web interface.
And also present a combo box at the top with an interface language selection
list.

What do you think ?
Could be possible and could work for all the not english speaking languages
?
Maybe people on other countries find the same problems I have with local
visitors.

My two mexican pesos ...
