more about the conference

More reasons to plan a trip to Berkeley in June -
The VR Panorama Contest:
There is a lot of great panoramic photography on the WWP site. And
even more that has never been publicly displayed, taken by WWP
participants. Here is your chance to get the recognition you deserve
- the first contest of its kind.
Winners will be announced at the conference banquet and featured on
the IVRPA web site. Winners in the print (as opposed to interactive)
categories will be exhibited at the conference.

People to meet:
Prof Helmut Dersch will be there, also Ford Oxaal, Ken Turkowski,
Jook Leung, Aldo Hoeben. Three of the four WWP team members - Landis,
Thomas and myself, as well as many WWP participants.
A party just for the WWP:
On Saturday night we will hold a reception in honor of the World Wide
Panorama, in the Lipman Room high above the UC Berkeley campus.
Everyone who has participated in the WWP is welcome, whether they are
attending the conference or not.
The next WWP event - community - coincides with the conference dates.
How about that for a subject, the community of the WWP?

Things to learn:
Currently we are planning for eighteen sessions, some of them
lectures, others hands-on, and a few panel discussions. Learn about
the new versions of PTGui, hear about Spi-V from Aldo himself, get
advice on VR as a business from Scott Highton, and much more.

The day before the conference begins (i.e. Friday) we will offer
VR-101, a quick run through the entire workflow from equipment
selection to web publishing, including taking original VR's on the
Berkeley campus. It will be taught collaboratively by some of the
leaders in the field. It should be a lot of fun, ending with "beer on
the balcony" at sunset.
Field trips!
Monday afternoon has been set aside for field trips, so no conflicts
between enjoying the Bay Area and attending sessions. Alcatraz, the
Golden Gate Bridge, harbor cruises, a walking tour of San Francisco.
And after the conference a number of us are going to Yosemite. (I was
there last weekend: pictures at http://tinyurl.com/22gvct and panos
at http://tinyurl.com/27rn7q )
What else can I say? - this will be THE event of the year for the VR
community. Plan your trip now, and register by Tuesday to save $50.
Join the IVRPA at the same time and save more.
See you in Berkeley!
