A great adjunct to the great work of the WWP admins. THANKS Tim for your outstanding contribution to the

Subject: WWP Stats Update (March 2008 event)

  Hi all,

Since Markus said the event is now final, I've rerun the stats
scripts and updated for new cameras. (I hope!)

As usual, the stats themselves can be found at http://timhatch.com/
  projects/wwp-equipment/

The executive summary is that the decline of the 8mm lenses
continues, being replaced by the Nikkor 10.5. Camera battles
continue to rage with Nikon vs Canon DSLRs almost neck and neck.
Nikon D300 is really taking off, with 14 submissions this event.

I've received some queries about whether some, um, "less detailed"
stats could be produced as well, aggregating into larger categories.
I aim to please, so I've added a directory of how usage of certain
items has changed over time. http://timhatch.com/projects/wwp-
  equipment/graph/

Keep in mind that there is quite a lot of fluctuation as the event
size changes, and the "best of" ones are lumped in there with the
others so don't just take the lines at face value, keep in mind the
other factors. If you have thoughts on any of the following, get in
  contact with me!

  * other variables you would like graphed
  * how to better control for events (produce a separate graph for
  each season?)
  * ideas for software better than gnuplot that can produce
antialiased graphs without too much trouble on OSX

  Tim
