If you believe that Google Earth is not working like it should and are looking for a change in Google Earth, go to the Google earth-issues page at http://code.google.com/p/earth-issues/ Search to see if your issue exists and if not, file a issue request at http://code.google.com/p/earth-issues/issues/entry Panos are handled within the PhotoOverlay function of Google Earth. If you search all issues for PhotoOverlay you should see a few out there.

If you find or file a new issue, post the Issue number and the URL to this list so anyone that wants to see this change can all go to it and click the "star" near the bottom of the page and vote on it.

Items with more votes/followers tend to get resolved sooner.

You know, you're right, it would be better if Google followed the same
protocol as the other forms of VR imagery. When you click on the direction
icon in the upper right corner of the Google VR page there is a little
navigation map and THAT follows the normal protocol - move to the right and
the image turns to the right. But the main window works in the opposite
direction. I also object to the fact you can't zoom out to a wider angle.

So I have to retract my comment on the excellence of the Google Earth VR
presentation - instead I would give that award to 360Cities.net.

But in Google Earth's defence it is clear that whoever designed the
interface was, like most digital photographers, biased by Photoshop's
interface. The little hand cursor that "grabs" the image and drags it in the
direction you move the cursor is, of course, just like Photoshop. And I use
it so often that I never even noticed that as a problem in the Google Earth
presentation. I don't think people have a serious problem with it, though.
It is different but just as easy to use. Click and drag and most people get
the idea pretty fast which way the view moves.

All in all, however, Google Earth with its enormous following had done the
world of VR a lot of good and it's easy enough for someone to go right to
360Cities.net from Google Earth and enjoy the "normal" VR controls and the
ability to zoom to more reasonable levels.

Now if only it were possible to get Google Earth techies to fix these
issues...
