wwp@yahoogroups.com: tineye - intelligent image content search engine Viktor Balogh 2010-Jun-28 20:39:00

Hi all,

This might be a little offtopic, but maybe useful for all photographers
who want to protect their rights against illegal copying. Today I found an
intelligent image content search engine, its called tineye. Try it for
yourself:

<http://www.tineye.com>

They states it can find the duplicate images on the net in seconds (with
the help of thousands of pre-indexed entries in a database, like google
does), so with the help of it we can easily identify the misuse of our
images. I was courious and made some test with it. Last year I was in
Munich and visited the BMW Welt exhibition area at Olympiapark... Tried
these photographs, which I took myself with my Canon 300D:

Now, let's give a try with this image:

And you will get this:

Wow. Before anyone would sue that website, please notice that the two
images aren't the same. But indeed, it is very interesting. What are the
odds for taking two separate photographs at that very same place, to that
very same direction? Now let's see, very high. But what are the odds for
finding that twin picture? That are quite small.

21st century, image segmentation, artificial vision. Wow again. Keep me
posted if you have found something interesting duplicate.

Regards,
