wwp@yahoogroups.com:
My bridge story
Ken Stuart 2004-Sep-22 09:44:00
Hello everyone,
In response to Don's request for WWP stories, I'll post this little
tidbit along with a link to my bridge pano and some others shot the
same day. All were taken with a Panoscan and then processed with
PanoPost, CubicConverter, Neat Image and Photoshop using an iBook and
a Windows XP system.
Bridging continents isn't easy, but the Queen Mary used to do it.
She's now moored permanently in Long Beach, California. Prior to the
advent of air travel, ships served as the only available bridges
across vast expanses of water. The Queen Mary also bridged war and
peace, serving as a troop transport in WW II and as a luxury liner
at other times.
While photographing her bridge, a gentleman asked what I was doing so
I explained the WWP project and the process. He then informed me that
he had travelled over from Southampton, England, to visit the ship.
Of course that was one of the Queen Mary's major ports when she
carried people across the Atlantic in bygone days. Not much of a
story, but an interesting chance encounter.

Looking forward to your comments on the panoramas,
