In order to get the same angular resolution (pixels per degree) your 
360? pano should be 3000 pixels wide - exactly the same as the 
sperical one (then both have 8.3 pixels/degree resolution). This 
gives a total of 1 800 000 pixels - less than half the amount of the 
spherical.
