I have had no mirror problems with the Peleng on various Nikons but not the D50. It's a surprisingly sharp lens and sharper than the sigma but is best kept out of direct sunlight when lens flare can be a problem.

  Erm.. nope. But I did consider this for a while and did a fair amount 
  of research. If it is at all possible to stretch your budget this far 
  you would get *much* better optical results with the Nikon 10.5mm 
  lens, and if you really want an 8mm lens (for making spherical panos 
  with as few shots as possible) then the Sigma is widely considered to 
  be optically better than the Peleng, too.

  But again, this seems to be a matter of degree. If your budget 
  dictates that you just can't fork out that much money then don't 
  worry about it from that point!

  Anyone here with first-hand Peleng 8mm experience want to butt in? 
  Any comments about the mirror collision issue? I know this was 
  something that concerned me a lot when I was considering that lens.
