I said that comments could be moderated by each individual contributor. As in, the contributor only moderates their own comments.

They could be put in a queue awaiting approval by the pano contributor, and an automated email could be sent to the contributor advising them that there was a comment awaiting approval.

Thereby each contributor would look after their own comment approval, and would not have to constantly check back as they would be informed by email when a comment has been posted.

I really don't think that there would be a deluge of comments on each page that would make it unmanagable.

These sort of problems can be worked out so that there is minimal impact on the existing moderators. But people don't want to work out these problems, like I said, it seems everyone is getting hysterical at the suggestion, and not thinking through how it could work.

At the moment we put up a pano and that's it, no idea who looks at it, if anyone.

Sure, it may only be for my ego, I really don't see a problem with that, but I'd like to see what people have to say about my, and others, panos.

I'd also like to see some sort of statistics available to each contributor, so they can see how many people have viewed their pano, where they are located, etc.

Really Simon
Than I think you should volunteer to be a moderator.

Comments are OK on a blog with a couple of posts a day where you can
have an overview all the time of what people say, but we are talking
about something around 3000 pages here.

If every contributor should check is pages every day for what is
happening you got nothing else done.
Many of us have 8-12 pages. You will have to visit each of them to
check.
Well it will give some traffic for the stats of course.

Comments is not just comments, it will also be questions all the
time from people which you have to answer.
Are you really prepared for that.

Hans
