As photographers, we're often in the position of capturing images of
interest subjects; those subjects are, very frequently, of a controversial
nature, as that's often what makes for interesting images. Nudity,
cultural events, politics, are all things we see and capture.

As members of a photography group, we are not here to debate the
*subjects* of the images; that much is clear. We're all adults (or close
enough) and should be able to separate our personal/political/cultural
alignments enough to assess someone's work without assuming they are
making an in-your-face statement. And, frankly, even if they *are* making
a statement, it's up to you to decide whether it's appropriate to respond.

Whatever culture gaps exist here are natural, but it's not useful to
attack a fellow photographer - or even demand an explanation - for the
subjects of his work. If you want to engage them in conversations on that
level, try doing it in private first and you might learn something about
the intent, and the other person's interpretation of what they captured.

Seriously, I'm pretty surprised this group is getting drawn into this. We
should all know better. Regardless of what you may think of the state of
one culture versus another, that's just not relevant to what we're here
for.

In short, we're not here to debate political or cultural issues.

It's not about racism or cultural sensitivity - no one here has to *like*
the subjects depicted in the photography shared here. It's about the scope
of this list (and the largest project), which as I understand it is *not*
a forum for debating the worlds socioeconomic and cultural clashes.

I'm with Pat, btw. :P
