wwp@yahoogroups.com: RE: Update personal page problem Markus Altendorff 2007-Jun-21 09:46:00
Hi Rick,

this definitely is a problem with your browser's cache. It's also a something that i need to improve on the server side of things.

When you first open your personal information, the server delivers the "old" file, called "RickDrew.jpg".
After you upload your new photo, it replaces the old file, but is still named "RickDrew.jpg". Depending on your browser's settings, this may result in you seeing the old file. The server would be willing send the new file (including updated "created on time/date" information, but the browsers may decide that it's already stored in the cache just by looking at the filename.
There are various settings available for browser cache control, usually labelled something like "check cache always / once a day/week/whatever / never". I've found that in Safari, holding down the shift key while clicking "reload" does the trick. Alternatively, flushing the browser cache should always work (Mac: something like Apple-Alt-E, then "OK").

I'll take a note that this needs improvement, and will hopefully come up with a better solution by tweaking the server once we've completed the Community event.

photo three times. It uploads fine, I receive the message to check the
changes, but the new photo is not there.
