Yes but!
The pundits say one should use the same exposure setting for each 
individual projection of a complete panorama.  Yes, but why?  They 
say to make it easier for software to even out the apparent exposure 
throughout the finished panorama.  Yes, but not in my limited 
experience it don't.  Not from bright sunshine to deep shadow.  Left 
to its own devices in auto mode, the camera does most of the work 
for the software before merger.  
Incidentally, I have an Olympus digital camera which in panorama 
mode takes the first image with automatic exposure then locks this 
setting for all the rest of the images.  The otherwise reasonably 
good Olympus Camedia software can't handle big differences in 
brightness between images.
What's wrong with my logic? If I'm right then the experts are wrong 
and I find this hard to believe.
