DSL speed is related to how far you are from the phone company Central Office. The closer, the faster. 
Copper wires take time to traverse. Are phone wires still copper? They used to be.

Cable speed is related to how many users are using the same line. The fewer, the faster. This is my 
simple understanding.

But at 30 seconds per MB, you could see a 2MB pano in a minute. I used to wait far longer than that on 
dial up connection. Had to learn to multitask in the interim. For me it was worth the wait.
