wwp@yahoogroups.com: important announcement #1 G. Donald Bain 2005-Jul-05 00:24:00
The new site is up - Water - A World Wide Panorama !

It ended up with 256 participants ( a new record), from 46 countries
(also a record). Well done everyone!

You can reach the site at:
	http://geoimages.berkeley.edu/wwp
  - that's where it really is.

Or tell your friends to go to:
	http://worldwidepanorama.com
- this is easier to remember, and will redirect to the site.

You will notice a new design and several new features. Actually, dozens
(maybe hundreds) of subtle changes have been made. New features apply
also to the previous events - the entire site has been regenerated.

The most obvious additions are the random pano of the moment and the
pano of the day.
* Pano of the moment, on each event home page, cycles randomly through
all the panos from the respective event.
* Pano of the day (on the home page only) presents a pano each day
chosen randomly from all existing events (there are 1192 of them now).
It won't appear until tomorrow , after a little more testing and
installation is done.

Another major addition - translations. The WWP top level pages are now
available in 15 languages. Hopefully more will follow, and the extra
language support will be extended to more pages.

When you have finished patting yourself on the back for a job well
done, you can start thinking about the next two events:

? September 15-21, 2005 - on the Equinox - Energy
? December - Solstice and New Year - Best of 2005

More information on those events coming up in a a week or two.

Congratulations and thanks to all!
