Hello Thomas,

It's an earth browser application. It displays the earth as a sphere
and you can zoom in. The app downloads satellite images with
resolutions up to 30cm like google map (in fact, they use the same
images, but google earth is more up to date).

The big advantage is, that it uses 3D, instead of 2D like google map,
so you can tilt the image, an fly over the satellite images.

There are tons of additional layers available like 3D buildings,
street maps, census data, weather forecast,...

You can also add your own placemarks and layers, like the one I did
with the Worldwide Panorama data.

The main site is http://earth.google.com

The Worldwide Panorama Layer can be found at
http://bilder.sinnfrei.at/googleearth

:)

MfG,
     Thomas.
