wwp@yahoogroups.com: Navigation map vtourdk 2004-Mar-09 19:14:00
Just an idea:

I've been experimeting doing a registration map [in dhtml/javascript
and php] for my mycological site. Maybe something like this could
come to use for the wwp-project?

Have a look at
http://in2.dk/svampe/fvlkort.htm [sorry it's in Danish]

The page have an overview and a close-up map. The first page "Tomt
Kort" is the report page. I drag the big map until I have the pin
over the right location. Then I hit the grey insert button below the
map to the left to get the coordinates - and open the report-form by
hitting "skema".
In the form I add my notes and end up with a php include code.

On the second page "Cortinarius 2003" you'll see the final plot-map:
Hitting one of the red fungi-icons on the overview map move to the
location on the close-up map and alter the info below the maps
accordingly - if there is a photo you'll be able to click on the
photo-icon and the same for notes [and the last icon bring up a
slideshow with all the photos for the map.]

Hope you get the picture on how it works
----------------

If you're interested I could alter the functionality to work on a
world map to be used with the wwp-project [allthough I don't think I
have the matemathically skills to extract the right gps-coordinates
from a flat projected world map ;o) - you have to enter them
yourselves!].

I belive it could be a nice visual and rather simple way to get a
navigational overview.

Let me hear what you think - and if you have acces to some maps that
can be used without infringing somebodys copyright.

Best regards

Flemming.
