As much as i like the idea, we currently do not have the
backend configuration on the public server to make it work
directly inside the WWP - no database engine available.
We'll have to change from static files to (at least
partially) template-driven dynamic pages. And, someone may
need to periodically check the new postings for
acceptability. A system for keeping out spam robots is
necessary. Some jurisdictions declare the owner of a forum
(which a comment system is, sort of) responsible for all of
the postings. etc. etc.
I do have some ideas how to add/run such a thing (like an
iframe that contains the comments from another server,
leaving Berkeley's machine alone) but i'm not sure if we
have the resources to keep it running smoothly (and not
becoming a spam/abuse target...) ... need to get feedback
from the other admins.
