You don't *need* autopan.
That being said you might try to download a sprite and follow the
directions at http://homepage.mac.com/qt4web/sprites/items.html to
get it to autorotate.
Even though I use a Mac, this is how I do it and it's cross-platform
(you'll need Quicktime Player Pro).
