wwp@yahoogroups.com: Some panoramas inside an old volcano crater from Mexico ... Roberto Gomez Torres 2007-Nov-09 19:39:00
Hello friends,

Here I have a new set of panoramas from M?xico I want to share with you.
Taken on my last camping trip last October 13th and 14th.

This time the camping was made inside an old volcano crater in the State of
Guanajuato, M?xico.

To get inside the crater "Rincon de Parangueo" you need to cross by foot a
mine tunnel 400 meters long.
Once inside the crater the view is spectacular and pretty singular, all the
center and lower walls of the crater are covered with gypsum (plaster). The
sun reflex very hard it's light on that white surface making you from time
to time dazzle your eyes. Rising your view shows a very interesting 3 bands
of colors landscape, the bright white of the gypsum, the intense green of
the vegetation covering the high walls of the crater forming a bowl shape
and the nice blue from a clear sky.

The dust of the gypsum is very fine and the soft wind that enter the crater
creates a thin cloud of dust which does not allow to have a clear view of
the green distant hills. All the panoramas taken show this effect.

Walking / hiking by the center of the crater suddenly make you sense that
your are walking on the surface of the moon.
Since the crater is covered by gypsum, the lower walls and little mounds
there take strange and interesting shapes with the running of the rain
water. Those structures may look hard and solid but they are soft and
fragile.

Taken with a Nikon D70s, Nikon 10.5mm F/2.8, 8 pictures around, one up and a
hand held picture for the nadir.
Really Right Stuff panoramic head.

Hope you like them.

Any comments are welcome.
Gracias amigos.
