wwp@yahoogroups.com: Get Ready for the Wrinkle G. Donald Bain 2007-Dec-20 00:17:00
Probably most of you have heard of the Wrinkle in Time, a series of
events organized by Robert Abbett (rabbett). They were a landmark in
the history of VR, the first world-wide collaborative web effort
featuring panoramas.
http://www.hotspotshawaii.com/wrinkle.html

We are almost at the tenth anniversary of the original Wrinkle in
Time - December 21st, 1997. The WWP Team would like to honor the
memory of those events, and once more enjoy the spirit of a
simultaneous shoot, by sponsoring a special event - The Wrinkle Tribute.

That first Wrinkle was put together in just a few days, pretty much
on rabbett's whim. It was almost coincidence that it happened on the
Winter Solstice. Subsequent Wrinkles, and the World Wide Panorama,
also followed the solar calendar, with events each solstice and
equinox (plus special Wrinkles for the Millennium New Years).

The original Wrinkle was strictly simultaneous, we all had to be in
the process of shooting at the magic moment of 9 am Hawaii Standard
Time (rabbett's home location). This was fine for most of the US, but
after dark in Europe and a real hardship in some other time zones. So
we are going to be more lenient in our definition.

You must shoot for the Wrinkle Tribute event any time within the 24
hour period centered on the solstice. That is, from 1808 UT, 21
December 2007 to 1808 UT, 22 December 2007. Look up your location
here to see what that is in local time: Start time (http://
tinyurl.com/3cbb44), End time (http://tinyurl.com/2zoabc)

For those of you who like to be challenged, we will give special
recognition to anyone who shoots exactly on the solstice: http://
tinyurl.com/2rp3um

In other words, plan to be out shooting at (or within twelve hours of):

8:08 pm Friday in Hawaii
10:08 pm Friday in California
12:08 am in Mexico City and the American Midwest
1:08 am Saturday on the East Coast of the US
4:08 am Saturday in Rio
6:08 am Saturday in the UK and Ireland
7:08 am Saturday in most of western Europe
8:08 am Saturday in Eastern Europe and the eastern Mediterranean
9:08 am Saturday in Russia and the Persian Gulf
11:38 am Saturday in India
2:08 pm Saturday in most of China and in Taiwan
3:08 pm Saturday in western Australia, Korea, and Japan
5:08 pm Saturday in most eastern parts of Australia
7:08 pm Saturday in New Zealand

We will open this event on the Prep Server soon after the shooting
period concludes.

Happy Wrinkling!
