Hello Georg,

I don?t think people is afraid of a contest, only that the core idea of the
WWP is a common forum rather than a online-contest.

Yes, that`s exactly what I ment, that black hole feeling with no feedback.
But I don`t understand that so many people are afraid of a competion.
There`s nothing to loose, the wwp is just a fun game. Sorry it was just a
try to add some response and motivation to it.

Kind regards

Georg Pickartz

I agree that we don't need a competition.
But after participating 10 times I'm really starting to lose interest. It
feels like
sending your panos into a black hole, because there is no way to comment and
discuss the
panos other than through email. In my pre-digital "former" life I had
several exhibitions
(ceramics/sculpture), and an important part of that was getting feedback and
discuss
things at the vernissage and later on. On the wwwp there's nothing happening
after you
send it in - just that black hole feeling. In addition to getting feedback
and discuss
your own work it is also very useful to be able to comment and discuss the
work of
others, the different locations, techniques used etc. But unfortunately
that's not
possible. I know this has been discussed before, and got a thumbs-down,
which I still
think was a wrong decision. The number of participants in the wwp seems to
be very
static, or even decreasing?

I have not decided yet if I will participate in the current event. I did
some preliminary
shooting in a gorge, where I broke my pole and almost lost my camera into
that gorge. But
during the short time frame I was too busy with work to be able to shoot any
elevation
panos at all. I did shoot a pano though, a HDR from a building site, for 3D
work as
environment/lighting/reflections. So my only choice would be to use that as
a base for a
3D "elevation" pano, or make a pure 3D pano? Or I could try to find a way to
justify the
use of the theme/title "elevation"? It's not very interesting though, with a
lot of
stones and sand, and a few buildings around.

But, once again, why bother spending time on it when nobody will see it
anyway?
