wwp@yahoogroups.com:
ideas about "color"

Let's share some ideas about color as a theme for photography, both
literally colorful subjects and metaphorically colored interpretations.
As always my photographic inclination is to head out to the national
parks and vistas of natural landscapes. I am just now finishing a
series of panos I made in the red rock deserts of Utah back in June. I
wish I had the time to go back this week - for the ultimate in
colorful landscapes.
The best of fall color (northern hemisphere) won't arrive until too
late for this event, but here in California many leaves are turning
already, from drought stress. The wild grapevines are golden and
poison oak is red and orange.
Most formal parks and gardens are planned to have color throughout the
seasons, and of course greenhouses always have colorful blooms.
Parades and festivals can be colorful, and don't overlook art fairs
and outdoor art installations. Sometimes color is right there in the
cityscape and you just have to recognize it - in Nebraska this summer
I was charmed by the bright red bricks paving many of the older
streets in small towns.
I saw a great, though difficult, color pano opportunity recently, a
kite festival at the Berkeley Marina with hundreds of colorful kites,
many of them large. Hot air balloons offer similar possibilities,
especially in a mass event. Classic car shows and rallies are full of
shiny and bright vehicles with lots of specular highlights and tricky
reflections.
Please post your ideas!
