wwp@yahoogroups.com: Color production workflow suggestion Keith Martin 2008-Sep-23 12:45:00
I'm just preparing my most likely submission (I have two I'm
considering) for the Color theme, and I thought I'd mention something
that could help others keep their colors vibrant when going from
Photoshop to final pano output.

In Photoshop, I always work in the Adobe RGB color space because it
is larger than sRGB. (It is simply a *bad* idea to do serious color
editing and adjustment work in sRGB.) But of course it is best to
hand over sRGB images when producing final QTVR or Flash/cubeface
output, as larger color space ranges get compressed and mute your
output.

In order to best preserve the color appearance of your
carefully-balanced work, choose Edit > Convert to Profile and pick
the standard sRGB color space - THEN save as TIFF and throw into
CubicConverter or Pano2VR. The saturation and vibrancy of the color
in your final pano will be more or less preserved, whereas using a
non-sRGB image will deliver slightly muted colors, especially in the
richer greens (where sRGB is particularly restricted).

(My CS3 color settings dialog has the normal 'Relative Colorimetric'
set as the conversion intent, as it should be. Yours will too unless
you set it to something else by hand.)
