A good point. I usually zoom in a little, as you suggest it gives more
of a feeling of being there and in control.
But for fullscreens I worry about resolution when it is zoomed up to
really large sizes (like my Apple 23" flat screen), and zoomed all the
way out makes the most of the given data. Notice that this is only a
540 kb file.
I actually shot a cubic version of this same sunset, but haven't had
the time to stitch it.
