the server isn't "smart" enough to actually handle a partial panorama, so it'll assume anything that is twice as wide as high is "spherical", and anything that has a different aspect ratio is considered "cylindrical". For now, it simply treats partials as if they are complete panoramas. Michel?s example can be spun continuously, though I guess it should stop with the display border at the seams and not be glued edge to edge there.The most compatible way (putting a partial panorama inside a black sphere and setting limits) already works for the vertical limits, but there's no mechanism (yet) to define the left/right limits (mostly because I wasn't aware that there's a desire for this), so you'd be able to scroll into the "void" areas left/right of the content. If this works "good enough" for now, we can make it work/update the values at a later date once full partial support is available.
I'll look into that (two more values in the database; shouldn't be that much different from setting the vertical limits), but it's part of the backend/editing interface overhaul which I have planned once the public site has been refurbished. Maybe I'll touch the decade-old code to patch in this new behavior (shudder!) but right now I'd rather not spend time digging through this and focus on finishing the new site instead...
On that note, things are definitely looking up for the new site! The biggest remaining thing that needs work is the starting page, but I?m quite sure I'll get this done in time for this event?s opening.
