yes, I?m still around, and yes, I?m actually almost finished with getting the WWP 1/2018 event out the door. Eight weeks late. Once again a whole lot of other things that I need to put on higher priority have interfered with me getting the event online in time and in choosing a new theme. I sat down for an evening and got the first half approved two weeks ago, then managed to get almost all done yesterday. Then I found a bug in the "extra texts" storage function (which would keep on escaping URLs in the text one more level on each save), so I fixed that first, then went on to patch the affected entries by hand.Given my recent track record with this, I?m definitely not the best person to organize the World Wide Panorama, but at the moment there?s not much I can do about that. I?ll be looking for help with the themes choosing, write-up and announcement because that?s the area that I?m struggling most with, and which actually causes me the most dread. I'm currently trying to to get in touch with Don and Lands (also, I'm trying to write this message but this Yahoo mail interface keeps on giving me browser hangs and keyboard lock-up with its continuous ad display and that's not helping ?)
If somebody wants to come up with a new theme and an introductory text for it, that?d be much appreciated.At this point I'd like to suggest to skip the Q2/2018 (or should we do another archive-related theme?) and then do a fresh, timely start with an early theme announcement for Q3/2018 just to get back on track ?? P.S. I still need to add a new feature that has been requested for the Q1/2018 theme which should prevent old entries from becoming over-resized (e.g. an older panorama with small input files shouldn't be full-screened if the photographer decides against it). The input is already there (you might have noticed two additional input fields "Max width X/Y" in the "View and thumbnail" dialog), but the javascript for the display hasn't been updated yet to factor in these values.
