About the Press Release
Don Bain 2004-Apr-14 20:33:00
I wrote the press release to be as general as possible. It assumes the
reader has no idea what VR photography is. I give a basic description,
a pitch for VR panoramas, then the background of this event.
I wrote a few paragraphs with examples, intended to show the amazing
diversity of places and subjects on the site. I was able to get about
50 panoramas mentioned in a few paragraphs, no mean feat of
wordsmithing. I am sorry I was not able to mention everyone in this.
Please do not be upset if your panorama is not mentioned in the press
release - three quarters of them are not. It doesn't mean I don't like
your panorama, just that I could not work it into the text. Several of
my personal favorites had to be left out (including my own, and
Landis').
If you forward the press release to your local media, feel free to add
on a special mention of your own work. Some background on where you
went and how you shot would personalize it and provide a local angle.
Be sure to mention your own site and business.
At the end of the release there are some resources for further
information and a few (sorry, just a few) major sites that may be of
interest. Any competent reporter should be able to turn this into an
interesting article.
Please let us know what success you may have with publicity.
Thanks,
Don
