wwp@yahoogroups.com: Something new for the WWP Markus Altendorff 2004-Dec-26 15:21:00
Hi,

i've built audio support into the WWP...
you upload the audio file the same way as you do with the
panorama files. There's a new button for audio between the
"upload normal" and "upload fullscreen" buttons on the panorama page.

Some considerations:

- Mind the copyright. Using copyrighted music without a proof of
license may bring considerable trouble upon us. Ambient sound
recordings *should* be fine. If in doubt, do not use sound...

- The sound is accepted as a quicktime .mov file ONLY. Should not
be a problem, since you can pack MP3, MP4 and quite some more
into the .mov container.

- If you want to compress the sound file (you know you want to
;), you may try this approach:
1) load uncompressed sound into Quicktime Player Pro. You get a
movie.
2) "Export" - "Movie to Quicktime Movie" - "Options". A window opens.
3) Uncheck "Video".
4) Check "Sound".
5) Click "Settings". Pick your favourite compression. MPEG-4 may
be good. Click "Options". Choose something like 64 kBit, 32000
Hz, 16-bit stereo.
6) Check "Prepare for internet streaming" (or whatever it's
called). Pick "Fast start" or "Fast start - compressed header".
7) Save.

- If you want your sound to loop, open that "final" file in
quicktime player (pro) and select the menu item for looping
sound. Then, save your sound file as "self-contained movie" - DO
NOT use the "export" menu again.

And remember: having sound is an option - not a "must".

-Markus
