Hi Kev, At some point ( pretty soon?) there will be some interesting
tasks for web savvy photographers and partic VR people. For now we
have a relatively new niche and new common practices are not
settled/wide spread. One might look to advertizing budgets etc and to
how powerful this work is to clients. I believe the old rule of thumb
for book authors was 15% ( of gross?) but an especially good writer
could get 20%. An inventor might get 1-3% royalties (3 if he put the
financing and package together or perhaps more if he had the
edge)That's a huge deal when one considers the publishers expenses.
Many businesses used to have to give something away to get some buzz
and attract a market share, hence it is good to do some small work as
you go. A cut throat client might think his nephew could do the job,
not appreciating the learning curve to develope any real
sophistication, add value ( and make things abit tricky where it
creates utility. Negotiate...I want a million gazillion
dollars....negotiable. Find out how to do things that others can't do

Now can anyone bring me up to speed? We did the qtvras thing 5 or 6
years back w/ a Cannon on film ( Fuji high end ) to digi onto disc
(conversion from the negs), telephoto, dabbled in Live stage pro
tryware ( clunky then ). We did telephoto, I've written with Markus
reponding on this, but when I look back at what we thought was decent
rez and compare to that concert shot posted a week or so back I a bit
shaken. Could it be a good(?) consumer grade Cannon ( with tele? good?
er? ) is rubbish? I'm a musician not yet a photographer and
unfortunately don't have a high speed line ( moving soon to another
town ) so I can't yet sample more than afew of the works presented here.
It would be very nice to edit some of the answers and repose them in
the ancilliary tools the web or yahoo possess. We aren't integrating
web resorces intelligently yet. I puzzle at it a bit now and then, I
know there is much more utility than the vast majority of web users
are seeing. Those tools on the yahoo groups page, upper middle left "
files, photos, links, database ( in this context what could that be?
); aren't being used much? are they? For me it's just to damn
interesting to plumb Wikipedia (eg
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panorama ) et al and fill in those gaps
in my general knowlege; for posters here, perhaps the discussions are
too captivating. Since I have so much to learn, perhaps I should open
a text file and post some edits under... files? Or perhaps at the qt
forum, naw. Anyone care to work with me or get more engaged somehow?

I've sprayed myself with deep woods off, and partic my ankles, so any
biters can expect a bitter after taste. I have absolutely no regard
for a man who can spell a word in only one way. Perhaps as time goes
by I may be a substantial member but right now I'm a green horn, an
ingenuo but that doesn't mean I am witless nor ignorant of the nature

In general I find the people here bright and thoughtful, a nice crew.
I'm getting older, stiff and hence sometimes grumpy, so I know that
side too, but I wish nothing for myself ( well not much ) that I would
not wish for any honourable fellow.
