I'm in the same situation than you, Mark.
I'd like a lens to shot panos and landscapes.. I was considering the 
Tokina 12-24..

It seems but, thant a 12-24 is not the best choice to stitch spherical 
panos. Sigma 8mm and Nikon 10.5mm are the most used. Look at:
