Epson Pano wards 2011, last call
Keith Martin 2011-Apr-15 12:12:00
I hope people will forgive the slightly off-topic post, but it should
be noted that the Epson Pano Awards 2011 entry deadline is one day
away. Also that there is a late entry period, but there will be an
additional late entry fee.
If you haven't considered entering, please think again. This year
there is a specific "VR/360" category; yes, our particular section of
the photographic universe is recognised and catered for. I feel that
it is *very* important that people consider entering.
Yes, there is a charge ($16 per image, or less per image for multiple
submissions). This is not a profit-generating fee, and there is a
significant prize pool.
But forget both those things. My view is that we should see it not as
a cost/prize issue but as a way to support our VR panorama industry.
This is a significant opportunity to show that ours is a thriving
creative field, and that it is NOT defined by realtors/estate agents
and Google's Street View. Also, my personal concern is that if the
number of participants is low, we may not get to do this again next
year.
Take a little time to select one or more of your best panoramas and
go to http://www.thepanoawards.com/EnterAwards/indexVR.php to see how
to enter.
(Final note for clarification: yes, I'm a judge. No, I get nothing
for it. Yes, I think the pano awards is a good idea.)
