The WWP events are always very inspiring and I am so thankful to the organizers for their continous work on this project. For me this project is one of the best examples for GOOD world wide web.
But the number of participants is constantly decreasing. A few years ago I had posted a calculation of the trend of this numbers and - sorry enough - this calculation is still pretty precise.
So how to react? IMHO the suggestion to widen the time window where one can take the panorama is a great idea, taking one of the limitation and thus one potential strain (time, theme) from the participants.
Yet I do see that there is a specific archaic magic in the moments of solstice and equinoxe. So why not just taking this as a special event each year? Why not creating a special event, where the panoramas are taken plus/minus 1 or 2 hours around the actual moment of solstice or equinoxe at the location where the panorama is taken without the limitation of a theme? That would be a kind of "sharp" solstice or equinoxe panorama.
