Origins of the Panorama view

Hi there,
This is my first posting to this group, I don't know if this subject
has been covered in the past, if so, apologies !!
A bit of background to the Panorama;
In 1787 the Irish painter Robert Barker patented the popular panorama

His original Panorama can be viewed here (quite a small image - for
faster download) - uses a Java viewer;

although a note of caution, if you are using a Mac, there may be an
issue with viewing some of my panoramas .... if using a PC, there
shouldn't be a problem - the viewers are Java based!!
