Google Earth 'EXPERT MODE:'?

I know nothing about Google Earth...what do the 'EXPERT MODE: Google Earth additional data' settings in the 'Geographic Coordinates:' section mean, and what do they do in relation to Google Earth?
Is a link to Google Earth going to be available in this 'Best Of' event, in the same way that the links to Google Maps and Multimap.com are?

I would also like to announce that Thomas Rauscher has joined the WWP
administration team. His special assignment is to check coordinates
and figure out how best to use Google Earth. He and Markus have been
working on some exciting new features along these lines.
